Krista is the young daughter of Peccavi’s mayor William and his wife Patricia, a child caught up in the dangers facing her family’s community. After a violent attack forces an agonizing choice, she is transformed and finds herself under Jason’s protection, frightened by her new form but comforted by her mother’s presence. Her family works through fear and grief to accept the change, and she gradually settles back into an ordinary childhood, playing and bonding with other children in her resettled community.

Book 2: Precipice

Krista is the young daughter of William, mayor of the human town of Peccavi, and his wife Patricia. When werewolves attack the family’s caravan, Patricia kills Krista as a mercy to spare her from being eaten alive, and Jason resurrects both mother and daughter as skeletal undead. Krista wakes clinging to Patricia for comfort, confused and frightened by her new form but reassured by her mother’s presence. When the group reaches Peccavi, her father William initially reacts with fear at seeing his transformed daughter, hurting her, before coming to accept her; the reunion restores the family and places Krista under Jason’s protection as his ward, alongside a budding friendship with Pint. By the time Peccavi is resettled as an undead community, Krista has fully integrated, playing with other undead children and showing the same joy and affection she had before her death.

Patricia: Patricia kills Krista as a mercy during the werewolf attack, and after their shared resurrection Krista becomes completely dependent on her for comfort and reassurance.

William: William initially recoils in fear on seeing his daughter’s skeletal form, hurting her, before accepting her and restoring their father-daughter bond.

Jason: After resurrecting her, Jason takes on an informal protector role, with Krista becoming his ward.
