asleep and unaware, robbed of magical items by Cady
Remy is an elderly faun serving as the last remaining government advisor for the city of Pax, shouldering its administration alone. Worn down by overwork, he has slipped into a magical pipe habit that leaves him glassy-eyed and prone to shirking his duties when he judges others capable enough to cover for him. As mentor and guide to a newly arrived earth avatar, he extends genuine trust and instruction, an openness that leaves him vulnerable to exactly the exploitation his exhaustion has made him blind to.
Book 7: Timeless
Remy is an elderly faun who serves as the sole remaining government advisor for Pax. Carrying the entire burden of the city’s government alone has left him haggard and overworked, and he has taken to smoking a magical pipe, which leaves his eyes glassy and multicolored; he rationalizes his drug breaks by judging Cady, the newly arrived earth avatar, and her golem protection to be capable enough that he can slip away. He delivers her orientation in a bored, mechanical manner while privately admitting his exhaustion. He also acts as Cady’s magical tutor, having taught her spellcasting and instruction, and trusts her enough to sleep deeply and unguarded around his collection of magical rings; she takes advantage of that trust, stealing from him while he sleeps.
Status: sole government advisor for Pax, exhausted and drug-dependent → asleep and unaware, robbed of magical items by Cady
Cady: He begins as her orientation guide and magical tutor, tentatively supportive of her, but his complete trust leaves him vulnerable when she steals from him while he sleeps.
