Killed in-game by her mother Gloria during their underground confrontation at the excavation site; as an in-game death, this means she respawns rather than dying permanently.

Once humiliated and left for dead by former classmates, she treats her new life as proof of a hard-won transformation from victim to capable fighter, throwing herself into dangerous missions and difficult moral questions alike. Book 5: Hellion
Acting on Jason’s orders during the siege of Sandscrit, Ella and other Original Sin members poison and assassinate the merchants controlling the city’s mechanid defenses, sabotaging the outer defense line. Previously humiliated and left for dead by former classmates including Kayla, she treats the mission as proof of her transformation from victim to capable assassin, accepting the possibility of her own death as part of completing it.
Status: Alive → Alive, wounded after the assault
Jason: Serves as one of Jason’s lieutenants, carrying out his orders to sabotage Sandscrit’s mechanid defenses.
Kayla: Remains hostile toward Kayla, a former classmate who humiliated and left her for dead earlier in her time in the game.

Book 6: Armageddon
Ella is a recently promoted Original Sin lieutenant and Shadow Council member who has proven herself through infiltration and sabotage during the Sandscrit siege, though she remains somewhat tentative in high-level strategic discussions. Fighting alongside Jason’s group, she contributes dark magic, acid magic, and corpse-explosion tactics, showing enthusiasm for dangerous combat and a stated willingness to sacrifice herself for the team’s tactical advantage. She also functions as a moral counterweight within the group, questioning the necessity of a violent entrance to an avatar meeting, and offers blunt, practical questions during mission planning. When her acid magic proves ineffective against stone-based threats during a farming expedition, she expresses frustration but stays focused on the mission’s objectives, sharing her concerns with Julia.
At the climax of the excavation confrontation, Ella is revealed to be Sophie, Gloria Bastion’s blind daughter, having concealed this identity while working with Jason. She confronts her mother directly, using an emotional appeal to try to turn her away from the excavation, while holding a self-detonation acid spell in reserve as a backup plan if persuasion fails. Gloria stabs her in a moment of misguided protection; because this is an in-game death rather than Sophie’s real-world death, it results in a respawn rather than a permanent end. Ella detonates her acid spell in her final in-game moments, telling Gloria “I still love you, Mom. But I’m done being afraid” before the resulting explosion kills Gloria as well.

Jason: Fights as part of Jason’s group throughout the book and is allied with him at the excavation, where her true identity as Sophie is revealed.
